HAVANA, Cuba-. Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet concluded on
Tuesday a fruitful four-day official visit to Cuba that served to
strengthen the excellent fraternal ties between Cuba and Viet Nam. The leader of the Asian sister nation was seen off at the Jose Marti International Airport by the Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Margarita Marlene Gonzalez. Also present was Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez and officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Havana. During his stay in the Caribbean nation, Minh Triet held official talks with his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, and with the head of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament), Ricardo Alarcon. In addition, the Vietnamese head of state received the Jose Marti Order, the highest distinction granted by the Cuban Council of State, for his work in favor of the people of Viet Nam and for his contribution to the development of solidarity and friendship ties between the two countries. Also during his visit, Minh Triet paid tribute to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti and to Ho Chi Minh, the father of Viet Nam's independence. Besides, he participated in a Cuba-Viet Nam Forum of Business Opportunities and in the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements.
